I must say though, although Kelly Clarkson won the first American Idol, I dont think that many people associate her with that any more - she has transcended that label. Also, people forget that before there was reality TV addiction, many pre-millenum artists were discovered through high or low key talent contests/searches.
Nobody can say anything about the talent on Idols and other such shows. Apart from the obvious, they found some of the greatest voices and talent of our time: Jennifer Hudson, amazing actress and singer. Jordin Sparks, who has also made a huge mark in the music industry. Carrie Underwood, one of the bigger names in Country these days. Leona Lewis, with a voice that has been said to rival Mariah Carey. Chris Daughtry, holding his own in rock. Paul Cole, who astounded the world with his unlikely talent. There are many "Idols" who have merely hit the right notes, but many who have proven that they were worth all the effort put into those shows. When Kelly entered idols, a star was born. Theres my cheese of the day!
